North Alabama is home to incredible talent, both at the college and high school level. From the University of North Alabama’s campus in Florence to Friday night lights across the Tennessee Valley, this season has already given fans plenty to cheer about. At First Class Charter, we love celebrating our local teams—and we’re proud to be part of the journey by offering safe, reliable transportation for schools and athletic programs.
College Spotlight: University of North Alabama
The University of North Alabama (UNA) continues to make headlines this year. On the football field, the Lions have fought through a challenging start, highlighted by a dominant 49–21 home victory against Northeastern State and a double-overtime thriller with Illinois State. Their ground game has been especially strong, with a 280-yard rushing performance against SEMO marking one of their best in years.
In men’s basketball, UNA enjoyed a standout 2024–25 season, finishing as ASUN co-champions and earning a trip to the NIT. Baseball fans also saw the debut of the new Mike D. Lane Field at Bank Independent Stadium, a facility upgrade that cements UNA’s growth in Division I athletics. And beyond the field, the Marching Pride of North Alabama will be representing our region on a national stage at the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
High School Highlights: Friday Night Lights Across the Valley
Friday nights in North Alabama are always electric, and this season has delivered some great moments. Colbert Heights saw its first loss of the season after a hard-fought matchup against Falkville. Meanwhile, standout athletes continue to shine, like North Sand Mountain senior Kade Davis, named WAFF’s “48 Blitz Player of the Week.”
Statewide, high school football has also been impacted by recent news: a court ruling now allows voucher students participating in Alabama’s CHOOSE Act to immediately join sports teams at their new schools. That means even more students will get the chance to contribute to their programs right away.
Supporting Schools On and Off the Field
Behind every win, every bus ride to an away game, and every unforgettable team memory, there’s reliable transportation.
